Classical pianist Terry Riley and guitarist son Gyan Riley perform at Cascade

The Cascade Theatre continues to bring Redding unique and diverse acts to keep the cultural arts alive as they present pianist Terry Riley and guitarist son Gyan Riley in concert on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 2:00pm.

Legendary pianist/singer and minimalist music pioneer Terry Riley graces the Cascade Theatre stage with his virtuoso classical guitarist son, Gyan, in a special homecoming performance that coincides with his 60th Shasta High School Reunion. Terry studied with master teacher, composer and concert pianist, Duane Hampton while living in Redding, and cites Duane as a major formative influence on his subsequent musical development.  Since then, Terry has been a monumental influence to the entire course of classical, rock, techno and many other forms of genre-bending music in the 20th/21st centuries. Together with his son, they've performed "around the globe" at many of the world's top festivals, concert halls and theaters. Proclaimed as being “the greatest composer pianist since Prokofiev,” this concert is sure to inspire and awe.

Tickets are $15 for students $27 for adults and are available at the Cascade Theatre Box Office at 1733 Market Street in Redding, by phone at (530) 243-8877 or directly through the Cascade Theatre website at www.cascadetheatre.org. The 2013-14 Cascade Theatre Performance Series is generously sponsored by US Bank and Jefferson Public Radio.
