Cascade Announces 10th Anniversary Season

The Cascade Theatre has finished booking more than 30 events for the next year and is now announcing the entire lineup for the 2013-14 Performance Series. Celebrating the theatre’s 10th anniversary season, this year’s star-studded roster is shaping up to be once again the best since the doors opened ten years ago. The season focuses on a diversity of musical style and performance types that are as varied as the people who live in our region.  Whether it’s country, blues, classical piano, musical theater, world music or dance, you are sure to find several events in this year’s series that inspire.

The new season, which is sponsored by Jefferson Public Radio and U.S. Bank with major support from Shasta Regional Medical Center, News Channel 7 and the Hilton Garden Inn of Redding, begins with world-renowned Dobro player Jerry Douglas on June 13th. On June 28th audiences will be thrilled when Americana string band Old Crow Medicine Show brings their boundless energy and spirit to the Cascade stage. In July audiences will have opportunities to see a wide variety of artists including the genre-bending rock band Blue Oyster Cult on July 13th, the “little orchestra” Pink Martini on July 17th and country music star Billy Currington on July 23rd. Rounding out the summer months is the unique alternative rock band CAKE on August 23rd which is sure to be the hottest ticket in town, and then Tower of Power playing their soul music on August 28th.  Tickets are already on sale to the general public for these early season shows.

Beginning Tuesday, May 28th at 11am, tickets are available to Cascade Theatre members for the rest of the 2013-14 Cascade Performance Series. Highlights include Boz Scaggs, Yamato: The Drummers of Japan, Ruthie Foster, beloved comedian Bill Cosby, the Cascade’s production of The Wizard of Oz, Arlo Guthrie, Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn and many more. Ticket sales for the general public will begin June 25th.

Continuing the tradition of offering community youth with the opportunity of experiencing the performing arts, the theatre will provide special school shows for the Cascade theatre’s production of A Cascade Christmas in December and The Wizard of Oz in March. To participate in the school show contact schoolshow@cascadetheatre.org.

The Cascade Theatre will also host new screenings of two favorite annual film events: the Manhattan Short Film Festival and the San Francisco Opera’s HD Cinema Series. Another film event that’s sure to attract filmgoers of all ages will be on November 2nd: a sing-a-long screening of The Sound of Music.
